Treat Day Wednesday–kid friendly snacks for a 16 hour drive

Treat Day Wednesday–kid friendly snacks for the 16 hr. drive

You’ve been there if you have kids, what to have stashed in the car when you are on the longest drive ever.  Well today, when I’m normally making sweet treats, I need to make the fun treat that’s also healthy and that won’t make a mess in the car treat.  I scoured the internet and decided on a few items that I think might do the trick.  I’d like to say I made them all, but sadly I had to go to buying a few of today’s in the car treats.

We are heading north to visit Rob’s parents in Tweed and our friends in Ottawa, Ontario. The trip is about 16 hours and we are breaking it up into two days.  The laptop is full of the favourite movies, arts and craft supplies are loaded and of course the snacks are stashed.  Here’s hoping for a smooth drive. Oh yeah, just found out it snowed at home.  Haven’t seen snow in two years, so excited!

So for the journey I made the ever easy and always accepted chocolate rice krispie treat

and then I went with the classics.

Goldfish Crackers,

Almonds

and Fruit by the Foot

Here’s a happy camper but we aren’t in the car yet, so that could change :)

I’ll let you know how it goes!

Have a fabulous Thanksgiving.  Wishing you and your families and friends health, love and happiness!  oh yeah! and GREAT FOOD!

  2. Have a safe and enjoyable trip Karen. Perth got 11 cms. and Ottawa got about 5 so I hope it is still on the ground when you arrive. If not, don't worry there's more on the way :) Have a great visit with friends and family.
