A brownie, a brownie, I want a brownie!!!

IMGP6742

I was going to post my newest quilts today but the headache I’ve got going on prevents me from finishing the quilting on my One-Block-Wonder.  So when Rowan came running down stairs screaming “a brownie, a brownie, I want a brownie”, I thought why not!  Such an easy recipe and they need no special decorations or icings.  A little powder sugar and they are ready to eat.  But I just couldn’t do squares.  My mother keeps gifting me these really cool shaped mini cake pans and what a better way to give them a spin.  Today I’m using the butterfly pan and zoo animal pan.

Rowan really wanted the fishy!

I’ve been making this brownie recipe since high school (read a long time ago), and it’s a family favourite!

Recipe:

  • 1 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 eggs

Mix flour, salt and baking powder then set aside. Melt butter.  Remove from heat and then add sugar, cocoa, and vanilla.  Mix in eggs and then combine wet with dry ingredients.  Bake at 350 for 35-40mins or until toothpick comes out clean.

Take pans out of oven, let sit for 5 minutes before removing them from the pan to completely cool.  Now I didn’t do this, but for a little decadence, cover with chocolate ganache! DELISH

Here’s my helper loving her job!

  1. Rowan is sweet and her Mom is smart to use her new pans to make these fun and yummy brownies in!

  2. So cute! There's nothing better than a brownie made from scratch.

I'd like to invite you to share this recipe on my linky, Sweet Tooth Friday. I hope to see you there. http://alli-n-son.com/2011/04/14/chocolate-birds-nests/
