Treat Day Wednesday–Cake Pops take two!!

Well I had some left over cake from last week’s engagement cake and when I say left over I mean the tops I cut off to level the layers!  So I smushed them up (that’s a real technical term) and mixed with my own buttercream recipe (I used the store bought crap the last time) and attempted the pops again.

I wasn’t sure it was going to go well. After attempting to cover one in candy melts, the stick fell out.  So I put them in the freezer for 20 minutes and that seemed to do the trick.  The melts hardened a bit so I had to add a little shortening to the mix, but after that I was on a roll!  I added some sprinkles for a little extra girly essence!

They are still a little sweet for my tastes but the girls seem to like them!

Buttercream Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening at room temperature
  • 4 cups icing sugar
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Cream together, makes 3 cups!

I turned them into a bouquet but I just can’t keep the girls from eating the “flowers”.

Thanks for looking!

  1. I'll bet the girls loved them! What a cute little bouquet. You are brave to do cake pops again. I find them very time consuming and have only done them once.

  3. They look great! I didn't have much luck when I made cake pops. I think it was because I didn't freeze them. Note to self if I ever make them again. Thanks for linking up to my Catch a Glimpse party!
