Disney’s The Lion King

lionking1

This is my favourite Disney animated movie EVER!!! And today it’s being re-released into the theaters for two weeks only and then they are releasing it onto Blu-ray.

I do the dance!

I don’t know what it is about this movie that I love, maybe just everything.  The story is a classic, the music is incredible (love Elton John) and one of the voices is by one of my favourite actors, James Earl Jones (Darth Vadar).

I remember seeing it in the theaters when it came out with my family and laughing so hard at Timon and Pumbaa to the point tears were running down my face.  It was also the soundtrack that I was listening to when tragedy struck our family and we lost 3 family members over that year’s Christmas and New Years; my grandmother, grandfather and aunt.  So when I hear it, I’m reminded of them, in a good way and it makes me smile.

Then the Broadway version was released and my sister, Meredith and I went to see it.  The opening sequence gave me goose bumps and I may have shed some tears.  The music is magic and the play was an amazing experience.  I can’t wait to take my girls to see it one day.

So now it’s coming back to the theaters in 3D and I’m taking my girls, even though Rob thinks I’m crazy. They love the story too, so much so our DVD got worn out from all the use.  Now every time they see a commercial for the Blu-ray release they tell me that’s what I want for Christmas and my answer is,  “yes, yes it is!”

I thought what a great way to celebrate is with a cookie or two and this is what I made.  I hope you love them as much as I do!  That’s all free hand baby!   Not bad huh?  Imagine what I could do with a KopyKake (hint hint ;))
