Savory Monday–Marinated Flank Steak

IMGP8027

There was a show on the Food Network in Canada that I was hooked on for a while until it disappeared.  It stared Rob Rainford who used his BBQ for everything and anything. It was filmed in Ottawa and he used the Glebe Meat Market for all his meats and he basically showed you how to marinate and bbq it all! It was great.

Fast forward to today!

I pulled out the flank steak from the freezer and decided to marinate it but with what? I had forgotten Rob Rainford’s name and forgot the name of his show.  After about the 5th Google search using key words like BBQ, Ottawa, Food Network, Flank steak, I got…License to Grill!  Whoop Whoop.

I then searched for flank steak and I found a marinade. Then I changed it, of course!

Recipe:

  • Flank steak (mine was about 2 lbs)
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 3 tsp smokey paprika
  • 1 bottle red Irish beer (George Killians Irish Red)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup olive oil

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients except the oil.  Whisk!
  2. Then slowly add the oil.
  3. Place flank steak into Ziploc bag and cover with marinade.
  4. Let sit for minimum 2 hours or overnight.

  5. BBQ until done!
  6. Enjoy!

This marinade smelt soooo good, I think if we had let it sit overnight it would have been even better than it was and it was pretty damn good.

I paired it was left over Jump Up Rice and some grape tomatoes. DELISH!

Thanks for looking!
