A week ago Friday our instructor for Body Pump did a theme of Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness and used every Pink (the artist) song that she had for each muscle track and for those she didn’t, she used inspirational/fun songs. It was so hard…my legs are still sore.
So I decided to make ribbon cookies for the class this week to help celebrate this month! Cancer has been apart of my life a lot in the last few years and I try to do whatever I can to help with awareness. If you haven’t checked out Frosting For A Cause where awesome bakers from all over bake and post about their goods. So many recipes, so many amazing stories and some heartbreaking. Those are the stories that make me want to keep doing whatever I can for this great cause. You can find my story and post here. It’s been almost two years since my mother found out about her growth and after the last MRI, she has been given a clean bill of health!!! I do the dance!!!
So if you haven’t yet and want to get involved, just click on over and join in the fun! Our illustrious leader Paula would love to have you on board!
Back to Body Pump class. Our instructor Lisa is amazing. She motivates and makes you smile while you consciously inflict pain on yourself. There are a lot of amazing women in this class too who workout to keep healthy and strong. I decided to make them these cookies to help promote a great cause and reward them with a little treat. Each cookie bag has been adorned with the Frosting for the Cause logo and Trilogy Edibles plus both URLs to keep the awareness going!
I made the cookies with simple motivational words. Here’s how I did it:
- Make Ribbon cookies. Recipe here
- Outline Ribbon in darker pink piping icing.
- Fill with flood icing in lighter pink.
- Sprinkle with pink sanding sugar and let dry overnight.
- Adorn with inspiration words in the black piping icing.
So go out and spread the word for this amazing cause. Because together we can make a difference!
I got the awesome shirt from Old Navy and wore it to the Body Pump class!
Thanks for looking!

ReplyDeleteYou are one wonderful thoughtful and talented lady and I hope you can feel the hug I'm sending you. To have made all these cookies for your class was such a thoughtful gesture in and of itself, but then to go and bring more awareness to the Frosting for the Cause project by way of your lovely labels was just awesome.
ReplyDeleteEven more wonderful and awesome is the news that your Mom just got a clean bill of health! What an inspirational post all around Karen. Thank you for mentioning the project and for promoting it with your beautiful cookies.
Great cause. I think we all know at least one person affected by cancer of some sort. Wishing you and your mom all the best with the cause and the fight.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking at Joy of Desserts too.
this made my heart sing w/ joy. Great cookies and even sweeter reason to bake them. Cancer sucks but the power behind the people sure makes a big difference. What Paula does at Frosting for the Cause is so amazing, I am humbled by all the stories and often find myself w/ an empty box of tissue reading those posts! Thanks for sharing this .
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic cookies for a wonderful cause - I love how you packaged them all up too. I'm sorry that you have had so much experience of cancer over these last few years, but I am so glad that your Mom is now okay. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cookies, and highlighting such an important cause in this post and for sharing it with the Gallery of Favorites.
ReplyDeleteI love these cookies! What a great idea! My friend is currently walking in Atlanta for breast cancer awareness. She would love this recipe!
