My Mother’s Day!

IMGP9829

I am like a flower
That’s raised with love by you
You help me grow up big and strong
Mom, thanks for all you do!
(from a card made by Rowan)

So what did you do for Mother’s Day?  I got to sleep in, my girls made me breakfast and I got to spend the afternoon at Swank Cake Design.

Best. Day. Ever!

After I did the Jacobean cake class in January, I knew I wanted to go back and take another.  So when there next dates for classes were release I decided on the fancy gum paste shoe and what was even better was that it fell on Mother’s Day. Oh yeah!

My husband initially rolled his eyes but then realized he didn’t have to think about what to get me from the girls, I’d done all the work.  Genius :)

Yesterday I set off after my wonderful morning with my family to Swank’s new digs in Cary, NC.  I loved it because it’s 10 minutes from home plus it’s bigger than the old spot.

Wayne and Chuck were their awesome selves.  Everyone felt so welcome and the best thing is that no question is left unanswered.  Their relaxing manners and teaching style make the class so much fun.  What’s even better, you get to leave with your work of art plus all the forming tools and templates required to make this shoe at home.  So worth it’s weight in gold.

The next class I want to take is for this cake!  Sadly I have to wait until 2013, which bites, but I’ll be there when it’s offered.  Isn’t it awesome!

My day was topped off with a lovely dinner made by Rob and it was shared with my friend Anna (who’s hubby was out of town).

So as you can tell, I had the most awesome Mother’s Day.  Here’s hoping next years will be as good!

And thanks again Wayne and Chuck, you guys rock!

Thanks for looking!

    1. Hey Kathia, the heel is made with a silicon mold. You can see in the pics that the sole is dried on a styro form and the toe is dried over a ceramic toe mold. It came with the class. so fun! Now to replicate it at home LOL
