It’s Sunday and it’s raining. So what better way to wake up than to have the smell of fresh baked scones in the air! Don’t worry the coffee is brewing too :)
I tried a new recipe today, a sweet as opposed to the savory I’m use to. I just did a standard Google search and this was the first one that came up.
Thanks Joy of Baking, we have a winner!
Recipe: Cream Scone Recipe: From http://www.joyofbaking.com/scones.html
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup cold butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Directions:
- In food processor place flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Cut up butter into small cubes and add to processor and pulse until it looks like oatmeal.
- Mix cream, egg and vanilla then add to the flour and pulse until it just comes together.
- Remove from processor and knead gently on floured board. Only until it comes together, it won’t be pretty. Use favorite cutter, I used a fluted square.
- Brush with heavy cream and sprinkle with a little sugar.
- Bake in 375 degree oven for 15-20min until nicely golden brown.
- Enjoy!
These were really really good! I made a really big one just for me :)
Thanks for looking!
