Treat Day Wednesday and a Hello Kitty Challenge

The last couple days haven’t been great around here for me.  On Monday I hurt my hip after my run.  It’s kind of sad really, I was removing my sweaty run gear when something went “clink” and now my hip hurts, a lot.  So no exercise and I’m not good without it.  Then I applied to get this “business” off the ground now that I’m legal here in the states and found out because I have pets, I’m not allowed to run a home based baking business.  So a little bummed by that, it was all I had from not eating all the batter for today’s treat :) (don’t judge you’ve probably thought of it too!) Don’t worry, I will continue to blog and feed friends and family with my baking.

On the plus side Abby’s been at camp and Rowan has spent most of the time next door this week, so it’s been quiet and I’ve been loving that.  I actually finished a quilt without interruption.

On to treat day.  Today’s treat was inspired by two things, Cristin’s Cookies Hello Kitty cookie challenge and a recent trip to the mall.  We were having lunch in the food court and Abby noticed one of those cookie places that sells big decorated cookie and thought it was very cool.

So I thought I’d combine the two ideas and make a giant chocolate chip cookie decorated like Hello Kitty (also one of Abby’s favourites).

I took the pic while the icing was still wet, I had a mound of laundry to do :)

This is a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe from the old standby, The Joy of Cooking. Nothing fancy but I used Ghirardeli dark chocolate chips for a little flair!

Thanks for looking!

  1. How very creative to make a Hello Kitty chocolate chip cookie. Love it.
So sorry to hear that you can't bake and sell out of your home. Any chance of finding a kitchen space to rent in order to fulfill your business dreams. Hoping so.
Hope the hip heals soon and that next week looks brighter for you.

  4. That's a great Hello Kitty. I love that you did it on a chocolate chip cookie!

I hope your hip gets better soon. It is so frustrating to finally get into a groove and then BAM!, have to stop exercising. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

And it is SO ANNOYING that we can't run food-based businesses out of our home. I keep telling my husband I need a trailer for the driveway - no dogs allowed.

I hope your Friday is a good one!

  5. This is adorable, and I love that you used one of my favourite cookies, chocolate chip, for it! I'm so sorry you can't run a food based business from your home, the rules are not that strict here in the UK. You do need to take a course and get a special hygiene certificate but I'm sure you are allowed to have pets as long as you keep them out of the kitchen when you are working...Thank you for sharing this post with Feed Me Tweet Me. Watch out for some news on this week's Feed Me Tweet Me later today...
