We live in a small community, only two streets and up until our fall street party a few weeks ago, we new just a handful of neighbours. We did get to meet several more that night and of course, promptly forgot all their names. You all know how that goes. Even the ones I made these cookies for.
Five houses down just had a baby girl. We met the night of the street party and chatted for a while. Super nice couple that were awaiting the birth of their first child. That night I knew I’d be making them cookies. Well we when got home from our trip north there was a big pink bow on their mailbox indicating their new arrival. I remember them saying they tried to stay away from the pink, so I used more than just pink and white in the cookies.
Today I delivered the cookies and re-introduced myself.
Here’s what I made.
I’m getting better at the piping with the smaller tips (size 1 and 1.5) but I’m still having issues with the tips clogging. I even sifted the icing sugar twice. Any advice out there from fellow decorators would be great.
I really love these cookies even though they are all pink (so NOT my favourite colour, please don’t hate me). I tried to use some simple scroll work and used the ever talented Hayley Cakes and Cookies as my inspiration this time around. Check her out, just awesome!
Anyways, thanks for looking!

These are so adorable and so thoughtful. So, here is a test: do you know her name now? :D I love that you wrote, "Five houses down had a baby." ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteFor the frosting clogging: How long do you mix your frosting for? It's royal right? I mix mine for 10 minutes, no sifting and I only have problems with tips smaller than 1. We gotta figure this out because clogs are soooo frustrating!
LOVEEE them!!!! Those flowers are cool, i love how you did the green dots in between the petals, funky and cute!!!
ReplyDelete*Five houses down* must have been thrilled when you showed up with these. They are adorable, what a great decorating job you did.
ReplyDeleteI love how they let you know that the baby had arrived with the pink ribbon in the mailbox.
PS Are you using a Wilton 1 and 1.5 tip? I hear that the PME tips don't clog as much as there is no seam in them. They are on my Christmas wish list.
They are awesome! There are too many that I love to pick a very favorite, but you did such an amazing job, and I'm sure the happy couple adored the cookies! Now they can pass out a sweet treat to each new visitor they have! :-)
