S’MORES SNACKS–guest post by Flour De Lis

Another awesome friend has graciously stepped in for me and created this adorable and oh so yummy treat for kids going back to school.  When I asked Samantha from Flour De Lis if she would take part, not only did she say yes, but she mailed me the post the same day.  Can you say rock star????  What’s even more amazing is that both of us are currently broken.  Samantha was hit by a car about a month ago while she was riding her bike and broke her leg in several places.  Then she got married.  So again, can you say rock star???

I give you Samantha!

Oh boy, oh boy! I am sooooo excited to be here today! I LOVE Trilogy Edibles! I've never shared this with Karen, but in my head, I refer to her as my computer wife Karen. If you watch Spongebob, (which you should, he's funny!), hopefully you'll get the reference. I think she's the only Karen of my immediate acquaintance, and I really only know her through the computer, so she gets stuck being my computer wife Karen. I guess she's probably reading this now, so NOW I have shared this with Karen... Don't think less of me... I have a weird thing with nicknames...

Anyway, I am here today to share a super, super easy and fun snack with you! Pretty exciting. I mean the super easy and fun part is okay, but the being HERE part is pretty exciting :D

You probably already know this, but I'll tell you anyway, Karen has two CUTE little ladies in her house and both of them just started back to school. I think pretty much everyone is heading back to school by now and this is the perfect little treat to say goodbye to summer and welcome back school days!

Summer has a lot of wonderful things I am going to miss. Like warm weather, popsicles, fresh fruit and long weekend trips.  And sometimes those long weekend trips involve camping and when I think about camping I think about s'mores! Don't you?! S'mores were as much a part of summer as a sunburn when I was a kid.

Here is a quick and easy way to keep those s'mores around so summer can linger a little longer at your house. You can even get your little student in the kitchen to help with this one, it's that easy!

We're gonna whip up a batch of S'more Snacks!

Here's what you'll need:

S'more Snacks

  • Honey Graham Cereal
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Cinnamon Chips (optional)

If you're kiddo is giving you a hand, make sure they wash up and then get started! Grab the cereal, marshmallows and chocolate chips. And get a big bowl to stir them up in. You can measure it out if you want to make a small batch and use 2 cups of cereal, 1 cup of marshmallows and 1/4 cup of chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of cinnamon chips.  Just give it a gentle stir in the bowl with a big spoon and it's ready to go!

I love the added flavor of the cinnamon chips and it really enhances the chocolate. The cinnamon graham crackers are always my favorites for s'mores.

S'more Snacks 2

I mixed up a BIG batch to store for snacking and some to send as gifts, so I used the whole box of cereal and the bag of marshmallows and about 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips.  You can put it in some cute little jars and send it to school for the teacher for a snack. Or wrap it up in little bags and send it off to soccer practice!

If you are going to keep it around for an after school treat, just store it in a food safe container in the pantry.  If you're like me and you enjoying experimenting with your s'mores, try mixing it up and adding in one of these other flavors;

  • Cinnamon Chips
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • Butterscotch Chips
  • Flaked Coconut
  • Roasted Peanuts

There are so many ways to enjoy s'more snacks!

Thanks so much for having me over Karen :)
xoxo
