Treat Day Wednesday–S’mores Brownies

You ever have one of those days?  I’m having one :(

I woke up hoping I get more answers about my back and all I got were more questions, so I came hope and made these for my girls.  S’mores Brownies!

From where I come from, s’mores were things that you ate in the summer whilst camping, at least that’s what I thought.  Here in the US, y’all love them 365 days of there year and in all shapes and sizes.  Ok, I can work with that :)

Now my girls love graham crackers and marshmallows, but when we tried the traditional way of making s’mores they were a no go.  Then I thought I’d try a twist and use brownies.  Another one of their favourites and mine too!

So I made a graham cracker crust and pressed it into a 9’x13” pan and then poured the brownie mixture on to the top.  Baked for 30 minutes.  Once cooled I cut into bars and then put onto another baking sheet, topped with a marshmallow and toasted in oven until browned about 3 minutes.

Treat Day Wednesday–Marshmallow Roses

marshmallowrosesa

I keep seeing these marshmallow roses all over Pinterest and since my girls LOVE marshmallows I thought it would be fun for treat day.  Plus most girls likes to get roses at the end of the day :)

What You Need:

  • Large marshmallows
  • confectioners sugar
  • rolling pin
  • sharp scissors
  • food colour (optional)
  1. Snip each marshmallow into six slices.
  2. On your rolling surface, dust with confectioners sugar.
  3. Roll each piece until thin. The side up may stick to your rolling pin.  Just gently pull off.
  4. Take the smallest piece and roll tightly.  This will be your centre.
  5. Then take rest of the pieces and one at a time wrap around the centre.  Each piece starts half way over the last piece.
  6. Optional: to add colour, brush the tips with food colour gels.
  7. You can also insert lollipop sticks for a little more panache!
  8. Enjoy!

Treat Day Wednesday–Honey Nut Cheerio Treats

honeynuttreats1

Sorry I’m a bit late for this but I’ve had a few doctors appointments plus I got a back brace.  So never thought I’d be fitted for one of these, that is for sure!

But amongst all of that I still got to make the girls a treat for today.  I didn’t exactly use a lot of brain power on these but I definitely had a winner.

I bought these monstrous marshmallows from BJs last week for our street party. They are Campfire Giant Marshmallows, it’s like three marshmallows in one.  See, they are seriously huge!

I just made the traditional cereal treats but used Honey Nut Cheerios and added 1/4 of sprinkles into the mix. Et Voila!

I think the sprinkles add a little something special.  The girls really liked these and I really liked that I didn’t have to bend much to make them.  Not that the new brace allows for much bending.  I also have to say, sometimes the easiest treats are the best!

Treat Day Wednesday–S’mores Pops

smorespops

It’s coming up on that time of year where everything on a stick is a summer staple.  The other staple is the fire pit standard of marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers.  So I thought of putting them together.

My girls love marshmallows as you know, however s’mores aren’t a fan favourite.  They like the idea of the trio combo but I’m thinking it’s a bit too much at once.  By just using the marshmallow as the main character and the chocolate and graham crackers as minor players, the combination becomes a winner!

They are super easy to do.  Crumble up some graham crackers, melt some chocolate and put marshmallows on sticks.  Dip into the chocolate and roll in crackers, et voila…S’mores pops!

So for a super easy afterschool snack or a party treat, give S’mores pops a try.  The kids will love you for it!
